Ummm, is this really a pregnant onion club for plants or have I misunderstood what you are doing here?

I am in mourning for my 20 plus year old pregnant onion . She was my prize plant and I miss her terribly. Can anyone help me replace her? I know I'm on the rebound but it one has to move on and refill that space in my heart. Does anyone have a spare baby bulb out there somewhere?

My "momma" plant seems to be a little soft, i think it may be due to over watering, i think my daughter may have watered it a little too much.. but is there another reason that she would be soft? she is not shrivled just a little soft feeling other than that she seems to look good, but it has been a while scense any babies. could this be due to a recent repotting?
